ABOUT RĀGASETU

A bridge between discovery
and listening.

Search compositions, raagams and performers in one place, including instrumental renditions, bhajans, abhangs and Carnatic-based fusion. Every listening link must offer playback without a purchase or paid subscription.

Spelling should never be a barrier

Search recognises common transliterations, artist initials, longer vowels, punctuation and small typing mistakes. Try “Kamboji” for “Kambhoji” or “Nithyashree” for “Nithyasree”. English transliterations and selected Tamil aliases are included; every spelling and script is not yet covered.

A raagam belongs to a rendition

Metadata comes from linked recording catalogues and publishers. Raagamalika is a multi-raagam work. When a source does not identify the raagam, it is marked “Not specified”; no raagam is inferred from the title alone. Fusion is listed only with a documented Carnatic connection.

Artists and grades

Established and lesser-known performers are included when their recordings have clear credits and a reliable source. All India Radio grades are displayed only when supported by an artist or institutional source; a missing grade means it has not been verified here. RāgaSetu does not rank artists.

Free listening, at the original source

Public artist and publisher videos open in an embedded YouTube player. Raaga recordings link to free streaming, which may include advertisements. Paid-only recordings, subscription concerts and trials are excluded. A free performance excerpt is labelled as an excerpt when known. Sources may change availability or restrict embedding by region; open the original source if a player cannot load. No music files are hosted here.

A catalogue that can grow

Discovery checks on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 8 a.m. Eastern look for new and previously uncatalogued renditions, including abhangs in Carnatic concert repertoires and independent performers. Each addition must have clear credits, free access and source-backed musical metadata. Discovery accepts up to 40 verified additions per run, prioritising more songs per artist and more renditions per raagam. The latest check appears above the results. A separate link checker runs Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 9 a.m. Eastern. Source errors are flagged and rechecked; temporary failures do not remove catalogue entries. A reachable source page does not guarantee playback in every region.

First free-listening edition assembled on 5 October 2026. RāgaSetu is a growing index; coverage expands as documented renditions are discovered.
